It is important to follow these simple steps to deter mice and unwanted pests.

1.  Do not store food!  You would think this is an obvious statement, but sometimes we don't think of this when life is so busy.  Our new steel buildings and doors are well built but with tenants coming and going, lifting doors and bringing boxes from their homes there is a chance that rodents can get into the buildings.

2.  Plastic totes with sealed lids are the best for storing  cloth items, clothing, Christmas decor, linens, window dressings, home decor, etc.

3.  Put bounce sheets in boxes/bags of clothing and lay bounce sheets around your boxes, furniture, etc.  Rodents do not like nesting near bounce sheets. (When I store our boat for the winter, I randomly lay bounce sheets under and around the seats before we cover it for the winter season).

4.  Keep cardboard boxes, mattresses, etc up off the floor.  This will deter rodents and also help keep these items safe from moisture.

5.  Even the most well-kept storage facility will have an occasional problem with pests when tenants unknowingly bring mice and insects into their unit.  Ensure your insurance policy covers rodent damages.
